ROMA is your voice for rural perspectives. See the latest on our website at: https://www.roma.on.ca/ and other social media. Pam represents Zone 5. Call your Zone Representative with you concerns.
The Ontario Provincial Municipal Act sets out the roles and responsibilities of our local Municipal Councils. The Rural Ontario Municipalities Association (ROMA) advises the Provincial Government how the Act and Provincial Policies affect the well being of rural Ontario. As a ROMA Board member for Zone 5, Pam represents the Durham Region, Haliburton County, City of Kawartha Lakes, District of Muskoka, North Thumberland County and Peterborough County. ROMA often has the direct ear of Provincial Ministers to advise what is needed in our communities. Through this work, Pam promotes improved infrastructure such as Broadband services, addresses rural concerns with the Provincial Planning Act, advocates for attainable housing, raises environmental concerns, promotes our rural businesses and food security, supports diversity equity & inclusion, supports the path of truth and reconciliation and all with a focus on the health, safety and well-being of our communities.
Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) takes pride in promoting, supporting, and enhancing strong and effective rural governments. About 270 of Ontario’s 444 municipalities have populations of less than 10,000, while scores more are rural in character. In association with the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO), ROMA advocates for policies and programs that will help rural Ontario communities.
